New Psoriasis Treatment Available at Dermatology Associates

At Dermatology Associates, one of the newest Psoriasis treatment options is the XTRAC Excimer Laser System.

The XTRAC Excimer Laser uses a carefully focused beam of laser light delivered through a sophisticated fiber-optic delivery system, the device is designed to clear unsightly psoriatic skin plaques quickly and effectively.

It is estimated that up to seven million Americans have psoriasis, a chronic, non-contagious disease of the skin and joints. Most have a mild form with a few lesions – often confined to the knees, elbows or scalp. Others have moderate psoriasis, which usually involves two percent to ten percent of the skin. Severe psoriasis may affect large areas, such as the back, chest and legs, or the entire body. The symptoms may include raised red patches, often covered with silvery scales.
